If you have been working until midnight in your office, or you can’t remember the last time you took a break, paused, and thought about your life, then you might be working too much. You are probably shaking your head saying, “No, I’m not,” but we know you could be putting in too many hours at work. If your dating life, and life in general, are suffering, it could be because you’re working too many hours.

Today, our KOP matchmakers are going to show you how to stop being a workaholic so you can meet Philly singles and finally find the love you deserve.

1. Set boundaries & follow them.

If you want to stop being a workaholic, you need to set clear boundaries about how long you’re going to work every day and follow the rules. You need to finish work at the same time every day. For example, if your office closes at 4, make sure you’re out of the office by 4 o’clock. Only stay late when necessary, and this is especially true if you have a date planned for that afternoon or evening. If you have a date at 7pm, you don’t want to rush out of your office door at 6:30 to make it to your date.

2. Schedules breaks when needed.

Since you have a planner, use it to your advantage. Write out the entire day, including when you’ll schedule a bit of time off. This will remind you when a break is coming up.

Small breaks throughout the day will help you feel more energized and help you be more productive at work.

3. Unplug when needed.

Unless your job requires you to be logged in 24/7, log off when you are done with work. There is nothing more annoying than being out on a date with someone who is constantly checking work emails. Leave your work where it belongs and clear your mind for dates.

This rule also applies to social media and anything else that pulls your attention away from the date.

4. Get plenty of sleep each night.

Workaholics are known for getting little to no sleep. Along with scheduling daily breaks, you should also schedule good sleep. You should be getting at least eight hours of sleep every day. Not only will this help you in your work life, but in your dating life as well.

The idea is to work smarter, not harder. It’s okay to go home late, but only if it’s a job worth sacrificing for, or if you have an important deadline. Skip out on the overtime when you can because your health and happiness is important.

5. Listen to your body.

Your body will tell you if you’re working too much and it’s time to slow down. If you work your body to the point of exhaustion, you’re going to feel lethargic and apathetic. If you’re already feeling this way, it’s a clear sign you need to slow down. Not only will you perform poorly at work, but you’ll be a bad date when you meet Philly singles out and about. Nothing good will come from you overworking yourself.

6. Prioritize dating in your life.

Write down all the things you need to prioritize in your life, including dating. On this list, include how many dates per week you wish to go on and stick to it. This list will help you keep things in line, especially when you are at work. Read over the list and remind yourself that dating is important too.

7. Don’t multitask.

No matter how many things you can do at once, try to stay clear of multitasking. Why? Because it allows you to get more done in a shorter amount of time, and if you’re a workaholic, it means more time to do work. The results will, again, be overworking yourself and doing things in a rush. Multitasking often leads to mistakes, as well… And we know you don’t have time to be correcting mistakes.

8. Say no if you have to.

Are you one of those people who always says yes to their boss? Do you say yes when a coworker asks you to stay and cover their shift? Are you the type of person who can never turn down a project or assignment, even if it means working the weekend away? Don’t sabotage your dating life because you don’t know how to say no. Our KOP matchmakers want you to learn to say no and prioritize yourself and your dating goals. No one is saying you can’t do extra work here and there, but if you want to find love, you’re going to have to schedule time for it.

9. Schedule time for family, friends, and dating.

While doing your job is important, you should also spend time with people you love. Aside from yourself, there have to be other people you care about, like friends and family. It is important you find a balance between doing things on your own, spending time with friends and family, meeting Philly singles, and work. You need to find the perfect balance so your life is fulfilling in all aspects.

10. Start a hobby.

A hobby is a great way to relax and unwind, especially if you’re always working. Think of something that catches your interest, but make sure it doesn’t have anything to do with work. It can be a sport, an outdoor activity, or even a fun hobby class, such as painting.

11. Hire a professional matchmaker.

If you are a hopeless workaholic who can’t pull themselves away from work to get out and date, don’t worry, our KOP matchmakers work with people who are in love with their jobs. We help business owners, successful professionals, lawyers, doctors, you name it. If you are ready to meet Philly singles and are a career-driven person, our KOP matchmakers have you covered.
